Saturday morning

I love Saturday mornings. I woke up early and had my bible time and my shower before everyone woke up. Then Hannah and I went to our Bountiful Baskets pickup site and picked up our fresh produce. This week included a lot of radishes, which I’ll have to experiment with because no one in this house has any love for the spicy red veggies. 😛 Hannah was excited that there were more nectarines in this weeks’ basket because she loves them! And I love that she loves them!

After dropping the produce off at home, we headed to Fry’s. I was up planning this trip until 11:30 last night and I was hoping my late night calculations were accurate! After grabbing our warm pumpkinny goodness at Starbucks (a must!) we started shopping. Hannah did great until the last 15 minutes when she was “starving,” “tired,” and “board.”. Silly child.

Upon checkout, we were able to save 51% using our coupons. My math was off a tad, but we were still under our budget! Woot for saving money!

Help Me by Helping You

I don’t want to turn into some advertising center on my blog, but this is free, and it benefits you, so here you go.

Walgreens is joining the card club (which is kinda lame; my wallet is already stuffed with loyalty cards), and it looks like we’ll be able to earn store credit of some kind by using the card. The website claims card-holders will get secret deals and specials. The card officially launches on the 16th, and if you use this special link to sign up for your Walgreens card, I get a little kickback. Which will be nice, because we’re having a diaper shortage this week!  =P

Thanks!

Winds of Change…again

I could make this really dramatic, but these details are boring. Basically, I’m no longer employed. So for the first time, I am “just” a stay-at-home mom. I’ve always worked part-time, or been in school full-time since our kids were born. I went to work when Jonathan was 6 weeks old.

I’m thrilled.

Of course, there is the stark terror of losing 1/4 of our income. I’m not sure how the math is going to work out next month. And I keep having this compulsion to check my email (nope, nothing interesting) and I keep having the feeling that there’s SOMETHING ELSE I should be doing. I didn’t realize how much mental stress I was under while working from home. I actually cleaned the floors yesterday. All of them. And today, someone got jelly on the tile…so I was actually able to steam the floors AGAIN. I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned the floors two days in a row!

I’m spending lots of quality time with Josh and Izzy this week. Playing on the (super clean!) floor with them, reading to them, playing outside in the garden (although my lizard-hunting skills are really rusty). I have time to make dinner, make lunches, prep breakfast. I did ALL the laundry yesterday. And I’m almost done putting it ALL away. The last time I did that was…never.

I have TIME to coupon. I have TIME to blog. I have TIME to garden. I may even…gasp! have time to finish my book!

Oh the adventures! The drama!

I’m REALLY missing my big kids, though. With one car and their school 40 minutes away, they are gone as long as Anthony. Now that I can focus on my kids, I want them HERE with me….

Expect more from me in the future. I have time to explore my dreams. And I think it’s worth the trade off.

Teaching Izzy how to eat!

Loving Joshy’s wild side!

Missing my big kids!!

A little CVS on a Wednesday night

Ninth Anniversary Coupon Trip

Because nothing says “I love you” like saving 85% on your shopping. =D Happy anniversary to my husband, Anthony.

We also ran a report on our July savings goals. I budgeted $400 for the month of July. We were over by $5, but this included our mid-month switch to gluten-free groceries AND all our toiletries, beauty products, diapers, etc. I’m pretty proud of how close we are to our goal! Some adjustments need to be made for August, but this was an awesome kickoff for the new month!
